CITRIX
Citrix Systems, Inc. is an American multi-national software company that provides server, application and desktop virtualization, networking, software as a service (SaaS), and cloud computing technologies. I was fortunate to be asked to help support Bellwether Productions in the creation of signage for a variety of three dimensional installations and one-of-a-kind pieces for both Citrix Summit (Orlando, CA) and Citrix Synergy (Orlando, FL) . For each location there were a number of Event Booths, Banners, Directional Display Maps, Meter Boards, Video Screen Displays, Handouts and more. I was also onsite during the event supporting Citrix and its partners for any last minute changes.

VULCAN
2015 Ebola Innovation Summit. Paul G. Allen and the Foundation have been catalysts for the global response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. He is the largest private donor, committing at least $100 million to support innovative and impactful solutions to the crisis. The Summit was a one-day event that brought together thought-leaders from around the world to concept new ideas and approaches to overcome key Ebola challenges.
Summit Event Branding. Working closely with members of the Vulcan Foundation and their chosen Strategists, Event Planners and Production Vendors, our team worked quickly to develop a variety of large and small scale pieces including the Stage Design in less than 3 weeks. The project was finished on time and highly successful in bringing together the best minds in research.

RATIONAL CREATIVE
Global client x 3. I recently worked on an extensive branding project supporting Rational Creatives three primary clients - ACER, Amazon, and Microsoft.
For ACER computer that meant a social media campaign and the build out of a 100 page presentation campaign pitch book. The strategy was to focus on four personalities in four locations around the globe using both video (IG + FB) and static ads. For Amazon we used acquired assets to produce a wide array of animated and static ads in various sizes. Microsoft asked us to created an eBook and email templates. Overall I enjoyed working with professionals who are always pushing for perfection to elevate social media more than you think is possible. It’s true that teamwork makes the dream work.

TUTTA BELLA
Tutta Bella D'Asporto is the newest addition to the Tutta Bella family! The truck itself is a retrofitted shipping container that has been outfitted with a spectacular Acunto wood-fired oven from Napoli, Italy. The oven along with other stylish design features make D’Asporto (Italian for on-the-go) an unique attraction in addition to providing stellar food and beverages.
I worked alongside the Tutta Bella team and acclaimed Graham Baba Architects to concept the interior design and functionality while leading the exterior design of what would be made to look like an original Italian delivery truck. The truck and container were hand painted to give it that authentic 'look and feel' by the one and only Reid Signs. Towards the end of the project we were running up against budget and time restraints. We determined that if we were flexible and chose an alternative interior wall finish and delay the add of the overhead awning, we could finish the project on time and on budget and keep our client happy. Contento!

MICROSOFT
Microsoft - Office Gemini As part of the Gemini Vision Day, our team created a presentation that outlined the Vision, Product Pillars, Business Objectives, End-User Profiles, Signature Experiences, and Foundation Enablers to provide a common language to help Microsoft teams think about some of their most important customers. A variety of presentation material was developed for the big event including a Signature Experience Document, Moodboards, Powerpoint Presentations, Placemats, and One Sheets. Whew! PDF available upon request.
Microsoft - Wallop As part of the Microsoft Research team, Wallop was originally designed as an Internet social network service in response to platforms like Facebook and Bebo. Designheavy was integral in concepting the UX/UI that allowed for social interaction and file sharing as well creating the Wallop Brand Identity look and feel. A few years later Microsoft abandoned development of Wallop but it continued on and gained in popularity in China. Fun!

Modknobs
Here is a good story. When remodeling our home, we wanted something fun and colorful for our new doors. We checked the usual locations, Home Depot, Lowes, and stores featuring expensive Architecture pieces, but nothing quite hit the mark, so we decided to make our own - I’m kinda like that :-). Turns out, Hockey Pucks work pretty damn well for a door knobs, so we combined that with the best hardware out there, Baldwin Hardware, and expanded the line with a number of fresh colors and over time Paperstone, Oak and Walnut material. They were such a hit we decided to offer these great designs to everyone at Modknobs.com. We got featured in Dwell magazine, Apartment Therapy, and Core 77 to name a few. I built the website, set up all eCommerce (Woo Commerce), Stripe as the payment gateway, ShipStation, etc.. I worked along side the amazing photographer - Eric Bell, my wife Mary Lacoste and I came up with the name Modknobs, and she wrote the copy. Now I source parts locally and internationally with various vendors, build the Modknobs here in Seattle, maintain the website and handle customer support. Whew!

KASALA
Breathing new life into a beloved brand. Kasala modern furniture has been a fixture in the Seattle area for 25 years — and they entrusted me to rebrand them for the next 25. No pressure ;-) We started by refreshing their identity and extended their bold new look to every aspect of their business. The strategy was to create a mark that features the first letter in their name (K), but also makes references to furniture and bringing multiple pieces together like when your decorating a room. The color palette consisting of various shades of gray were chosen for its modern timelessness and pops of color for their fun and creativity.

PRIVATEER HOLDINGS
Brand building. Working alongside Heckler Associates I was asked to help visualize and create the Tilray Cannabis brand from the ground up for the Canadian market. Tilray is dedicated to cultivating and delivering the benefits of medical cannabis safely and reliably. The strategy was to communicate a clean doctor prescribed medical look & feel (Swiss design inspired) but also a bi-lingual package mandatory for the Canadian Market. The image strip is used here to bring color and flavor profiles hints between product offerings.
Marley Natural
Shortly after, and before legalization, I was asked again to help visualize the all new Marley Natural brand. The challenge here was to not fall into the same visual stereotypes of Cannabis culture (i.e. using the same image of Bob Marley, colors of RGB, bad typography) but to create a new look & feel while honoring the past. These early designs explore a variety of forms, materials, and textures. One of the best projects I have worked on and with some wonderfully smart and senior creatives. Just the way it should be. ;-)

Sound Spirits Distillery Branding and Package Design Projects
EBB + FLOW
Ebb + Flow Gin / Ebb + Flow Vodka
The idea was to use a reverse printed label that when looked at through the glass bottle would magnify the image in the back. The Little Sumo bottle was selected for its beautiful shape and the substantial feel when in customers hand. A quality package for a quality product.
DEPTH
Cacao / Menthe / Vow of Silence
The Depth series pays homage to the cocktail culture of the 20's and 30's with a truly modern aesthetic. I really wanted to make a statement with the bold black bottle and simple play on the name DEPTH as it cascades down the bottle, while the back label features elegant patterns of the art deco culture. The photography is dark, rich, and sophisticated by design.
BLEKKSPRUT
Sound Spirits Aquavit is a traditional Scandinavian spirit with caraway, dill, coriander, fennel and anise. It is light, spicy and balanced and is a pleasure to sip neat in the traditional chilled fashion or in a cocktail. Distilled right here in the Northwest and inspired by Ballards Scandinavian culture, we brought these two worlds together on one memorable package. Skol!
MADAME DAMNABLE
Taking a design cue from Seattle’s not so known past, the design reflects the time and aesthetic of the late 1800’s. The idea was to use period correct embellished typography and decorative design elements, along with a Gold foil and Pink color combination. The design is a kick in the pants just like Madame Damnable who the whiskey was named after. Always a lady. Cheers!
Salut!

IOACTIVE
How do professional hackers earn trust? Heres how, IOActive helps corporations protect mission critical systems by finding potential security compromises before real hackers do. To show how serious IOActive is about security, I created a brand identity centered around secure PGP codes used in protecting info from prying eyes. The idea here was to visually show they know security and take seriously any potential threats.
Years later when it came time for a brand refresh, IOActive reached out again and I presented 4 new conceptual directions with slightly different ways to look at walking that line between IOActive’s origins of underground hackers and the more reserved corporate computer security world. Concept 1 was eventually chosen. My thoughts were to take IOActive branding to the next level using diagram vectors, security patterns, sophisticated colors palettes, and high-end printing finishes.

A great logo is the first step to building a strong brand. Although some logos appear to be very simple in nature, the process can be a little bit of a mystery at times. That's why I like to start with a few questions about your company and what makes you different and unique from your competition. It is a collaborative process during which the designer and the client work together towards the same goal. The small time investment is worth it, and when the process is executed successfully, the resulting logo becomes unique and memorable, exactly what a logo should be.

DINETTE
The deliciousness is in the details. When visiting the owner in her home, I was inspired by the owner’s collection of vintage serving trays, so after a talking it through we developed a cozy yet elegant brand based on the shape, color, and textures of her trays. We then rolled out distinctive oversized calling cards, setup a casual photo shoot showcasing the food and its customers, and hired a local painter to apply gold-leaf finishes inside the restaurant for an all out european vibe. Yum!
