MODKNOBS.COM - PRODUCT DESIGN & ONLINE STORE

Modknobs

Here is a good story. When remodeling our home, we wanted something fun and colorful for our new doors. We checked the usual locations, Home Depot, Lowes, and stores featuring expensive Architecture pieces, but nothing quite hit the mark, so we decided to make our own - I’m kinda like that :-). Turns out, Hockey Pucks work pretty damn well for a door knobs, so we combined that with the best hardware out there, Baldwin Hardware, and expanded the line with a number of fresh colors and over time Paperstone, Oak and Walnut material. They were such a hit we decided to offer these great designs to everyone at Modknobs.com. We got featured in Dwell magazine, Apartment Therapy, and Core 77 to name a few. I built the website, set up all eCommerce (Woo Commerce), Stripe as the payment gateway, ShipStation, etc.. I worked along side the amazing photographer - Eric Bell, my wife Mary Lacoste and I came up with the name Modknobs, and she wrote the copy. Now I source parts locally and internationally with various vendors, build the Modknobs here in Seattle, maintain the website and handle customer support. Whew!

One of the greatest mistakes on building a brand is wanting to look like something, instead of be something and reflect it.
